Seaforth Public School is a JK to Gr. 8 school located in the town of Seaforth, Ontario. We have a student population of 300 students, and a staff of 30 adults. Our students come from the town of Seaforth as well as from the surrounding area, including Walton, Winthrop, Harpurhey and Egmondville.

Staff at Seaforth P.S. are committed to creating a positive, inclusive, learning environment that respects the diversity of learning styles, strengths and challenges of each of our students. Embedded into our day to day learning and interactions are strategies such as the “Tribes Community Agreements” of attentive listening, appreciation/no put downs, the right to participate and mutual respect; Community Circle discussions; and strategies which develop an understanding of our diversity, as well as the essential 21st century skills of collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Academically, our school crest “Robur et Scientia” (Strength and Understanding) represents our school community’s commitment to ensuring high academic standards so that each of our students achieves their potential. Using a “Collaborative Inquiry” approach to guide our professional learning and provide continuity in all classrooms, staff meet regularly to develop consistent assessment and instructional practices to improve student learning.
Key instructional strategies that will be targeted in the coming year are: collaborative learning structures, descriptive feedback, and multiple representations of success criteria.

Our school motto, “Where people make the difference”, exemplifies our belief that student success is the result of the partnership among home, school and community. We are fortunate to have committed and caring volunteers and a School Council which supports our endeavours through fundraising, family events, and valued input on important school decisions. We continue an active partnership with the Seaforth Cooperative Childcare Center who provide before and after school childcare within our building.

To develop leadership and positive citizenship, Grades 7 and 8 students are involved in three Leadership Teams – Community Outreach, School Spirit, Sports and Healthy Living. We are particularly proud of their contribution to the Community Food Bank through their Great Can Off and Scare Away Hunger campaigns. All of our students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities including: sports teams, intramurals, band, choirs, yearbook, drama, environmental initiatives such as our “school yard greening” project, citizenship and chess clubs.

Seaforth Public School is a truly progressive school cultivating young minds for the challenges the future will bring.
